The Producer & Organic Viticulture

GREEN PATH Chardonnay and Shiraz are single-estate wines, sourced from Organic One Wines. Established in 1976, this is one of Australia’s oldest and largest vineyards and winery establishments. Organic One Wines has a demonstrable commitment to their customers and the environment.  The wines are of a high quality, made from low yielding vines (typically 1-3 tons/acre), harvested when ripe, so as to achieve full, rich flavors.  The 280 acre vineyard is certified Organic and Bio-dynamic, carrying USDA NOP certification.

Organic One Wines’ Billabong Vineyard is located in Jerilderie, New South Wales.  Chardonnay and Shiraz are the main varieties grown, with smaller quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  The site was specifically chosen for organic viticulture, given its low rainfall (approx 250mm annually) and flat topography – thus minimizing problems that can be associated with wetter/valley locations, such as fungal diseases.  The soils are heavy (as opposed to sandy), controlling vine vigor and leading to fuller flavored wines

Environmental Sustainability

GREEN PATH wines are made with organically grown grapes, which means minimal impact on the environment through use of natural sprays and fertilizers.  Organic practices used include the introduction of ‘vine-friendly’ grazing animals to increase the natural microbial activity in the soils, the use of milk sprays to control mildew and encouraging a diversity of companion crops to enhance soil and vine health.

Winery practices are also environmentally sustainable and include 100% recycling of winery waste for use as compost plus vigilant water management (using just 400mL water per 1L wine produced).

The TETRA PRISMA® pack represents a major step forward in wine packaging.  Minimal material and energy to produce and ship, means less waste for the environment.  Packs are recyclable, further reducing their environmental footprint.
